By integrating IDS/IPS, Meraki APs eliminate the need for purchasing and managing overlay hardware and software for intrusion detection and prevention. Live spectrum analysis tools built into Meraki APs deliver instant views of channel utilization, non-WiFi interference, and frequency domain signal analysis.


Opportunistic and
mandatory scanning

Automatic scanning for intruders and attackers through time slicing techniques ensure the network is monitored and network administrators are alerted to potentially risky network events. Mandatory scans can be triggered at any time and immediately detect potential intruders and attackers.


Rogue SSID & event
classification

Rogue SSIDs and APs are detected and classified via an integrated multiple heuristics engine that uses data from captured probes, active scans, and spectral scans to identify intruders and malicious events. Spoofing and attacking detection identifies APs that accidentally expose your wired LAN, intentionally spoof your SSID, or spread malicious broadcasts and packet floods.


Rogue containment

Once identified, rogue APs can be contained through built-in techniques that deauthenticate clients and render the rogue AP ineffective. Rogue AP containment is activated directly via the dashboard, eliminating the need to manually provision a containment device.
